the universe screeching
on a blackboard

silent night –
the wings of a moth
carving storms

early morning . . .
a tree's foliage bursts
into parakeets

rhododendron,
its anthers echo the
universe

fireflies . . .
for a while my garden
mimics the night

higgs boson . . .
deepening henna pattern
on the first night

alley puddle –
a paper boat glides
over the stars

this trembling distance
between us

her bosom –
tracing the rhythm of
a nocturne
